After an awesome break at home with all of my family for Christmas, I arrived in California just before midnight on new years eve.
At the start of 2015 I am busy getting ready for the first contest of the year in Huntington Beach, CA starting next week. I am also planning out which contests I can go to in 2015, and working to raise funds to get to all the of these events. On top of that I am enrolled in school online through Liberty University, so I have been figuring out how I can pay for classes in addition to all of my travel.
Amongst all of my planning, fundraising, traveling, surfing, training, and schooling my mind starts spinning and I start to grow anxious due to the uncertainty of the coming year.
This morning as I am reading and praying I am comforted by the writings of Paul in Philippians 4: 4-7
“4Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! 5Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. 6Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.7And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
I am reminded to stop and praise God. Rather than trying to figure all of my life out on my own, I choose to submit it to the Lord praying and surrendering my plans to Him alone. And it is only when I do this that I have peace. I challenge you to do the same at the start of this new year, stop trying to figure it out on your own, turn to Christ and let him give you peace.
